Campsite toilets – male – only 1 wc and urinal, no soap (empty dispenser all weekend), no hand towels. If using the separate 2 shower rooms (entry with code) with wc there are no hand towels. I went with party of about 50. Meals good but Sunday evening Chinese meal (£8.00) was a joke with small portion of rice and chicken bits in a sauce plus a few prawn crackers. Area behind pub and toilet area is a tip. Landlord moving on in October 2011 so hope new one improves things. Not recommended.

Stayed at the Bull campsite for 2 nights at the end of July and had a lovely time. It was great to be able to have our pick of the camping field and not be told where to camp. We were camping with another couple so we were able to find a little corner to pitch together and have a BBQ space between us. This site is ideal for group camps. Prices are dirt cheap as well. The pub itself was very nice and although we only ate there the one night the food was very good as was the service.

The only criticism i would make is that there were not enough toilets or showers and they could all have done with a good clean. The loos in the hut on the camping field in particular needed to be checked over far more reguarly. I also had a problem with the shower drain being blocked up with grass so that the water wouldnt drain away. These things didnt bother us especially but it could be improved upon. I suspect at quieter times the loos would stay in a better condition.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return.

Myself my partner & 2 friends stayed at the campsite over the weekend from Friday the 24th of June 2011. We all had a fantastic stay here! The campsite was in a beautiful setting surrounded by meadows & trees.
We arrived at 7pm on the friday & by 8pm we went into the pub which was cosy & welcoming, we had a meal there the following evening & the food was of a really high standard! delicious home cooked, generous portions were served & the waiting staff were charming & obliging. We stayed late into the evening in this relaxed atmosphere. The indoor toilets & hot showers were of a good standard. Overall we would highly recommend thew Bull i th’ thorn!

Very disapointed with the site. Booked in about 2 months prior stating i was using the mirror vouchers for 95p a night & that i wanted to stay 3 nights, wed, thurs & fri 1st-4th June. Before the end of the call i checked that all was ok to which i was told that was fine & asked what the total cost would be. On arriving Wed the site was near empty pub closed & really bad winds. We finally got booked in for 3 nights got the tent up & started to enjoy our 3 nights except friday morning just as we were about to make breakfast the site owner came over telling us our vouchers did not permit us to stay fri night so we had to pack up & leave or pay another £12 to stay he then started asking where we had washed each day saying we were not entitled to use the shower blocks on the vouchers. After a disagreement over if we were or not permitted to stay Fri night we said we were going & started packing up when the site owner came back accusing us of giving him 2 sun vouchers that were not even accepted by his park (we gave 3 mirror vouchers which were accepted) I told him this & then told him since i gave him 3 vouchers the sun 2 sun vouchers cant possibly be mine so he’d best go find the person who had given him the vouchers instead of accusing us.
He tried blaming us not being told about the friday on a new girl who had just started to which he was told i suppose it was the new girl who took my call when i rang to book as well then, to which he told us no that was someone else. They made the mistake, ruined our 3 nights away due to their incapabilities to run the site then tries to blame everyone except himself.

The personality of this place changed overnight! We arrived on a Monday at about 5pm having pre-booked. The pub was closed! The place was deserted and reminiscent of ‘Cold Comfort Farm!’ No cars in the car park, 40 mile an hour winds and no signs directing campers. Never-the-less we found a spot that was semi-sheltered from the winds and soon sizzling sausages on the barby. The next day the place came to life with the pub open and staff milling around. By lunchtime the carpark was near full with visitors to the pub. We stayed 4 nights and had the campsite to ourselves with one of the most amazing far-reaching views I’ve ever seen. As other people have said, the staff were friendly and food was great. Only downside was the limited facilities, had the campsite had been full they could’ve been an issue. Oh! Beer is great too!

Very disappointed,we decided to go for our anniversary as that is where we had gone for our first date,we arrived at 7,50pm to be told there was no food being served as the chef had been sent home,i had looked at the website to see what time food stopped being served it said 8.30 which is what time i would have expected, there was also 4 other people that had followed us in for food and told the same thing, our anniversary was spoilt,we were left having to find somewhere else to eat,
I am sure you cannot predict when and how many people will arrive for food.but i rely on times stated on websites, but that was 6 peoples orders you lost, and 6 disappointed people.

Booked for 3 nights last weekend but left after two. Toilets and showers filthy. Restaurant management rude and unhelpful. Food of a poor quality. Will not return.

Arrived for a meal on the 1st May 2011, the place looked as though it was shutting down, no tables had been layed for lunch.
The carvery looked like it had been on display for days it was that dry.
We made our choice off the menu, but when arrived the food was not home cooked as stated. The chef approached us after we had complaining about our poor food and told us to B—-ks.
    Very poor,
Please be warned – -stay away if you require good food.

We met up with some relatives for a family reunion last week, and had a large table in the back room. Delicious food, great atmosphere, lovely staff, friendly service, and nobody hurrying us to clear away so we had chance to sit and chat at our leisure. Couldn’t be better!
    Thank you!
