For more than 500 years The Bull i’ th’ Thorn has offered a warm welcome to travellers and the field adjacent to our Inn provides excellent facilities for both Caravans and Campers.

We are situated on the old Roman Road between Buxton and Ashbourne, nestling amongst a handful of farms with stunning views of the rolling Derbyshire hills.

On site we have 15 acres of caravan and camping land with 10 electric hook ups, showers, toilets and taps.

Larger groups are welcome and our campsite and barn prove ideal for accommodating Schools, Scout Groups and Cub Packs etc.

We can place families on a quieter part of our site.

The Bull i’ th’ Thorn Inn is on the Buxton – Ashbourne Road (A515) six miles south of Buxton and is ideal for mountain biking, rambling and walking.

The Peak District offers more than just outdoor activities however, with cultural and historic sites as diverse as Chatsworth, Alton Towers, Buxton Opera house, National Tram Museum, Richard Arkwright’s Mills within the Derwent Valley World Heritage site, Gulliver’s Kingdom, a variety of caves and caverns, stately homes and castles, to name a few.

What Visitors to Our Site Thought…

“Just spent 1 night at this camp site but would definitely return. Lots of space to camp, a few different fields, were asked on booking in if we wanted a quiet pitch and directed us to best field for peace.”

“Just spent 2 night in a tent with electric hook up at the bull in the thorn and we will visit again…but maybe not spring time as it is a very open field on top of a hill so very windy! The field was very big but there only seemed to be 4 hook ups in this tent field. There was also a toilet block which was basic but clean and well stocked. Joined onto the pub were 2 bathrooms available to campers which had a shower, toilet and sink in each. These looked fairly new and again were clean. The caravan field was on the other side of the pub.”

“This is an excellent site. It is located within 20 minutes walking distance of the lovely town of Buxton, with its many shops, theatre, cracking pavilion and impressive gardens. There is a wealth of places to eat and drink. It’s also worth visiting Poole’s Cavern and Solomon’s Temple, both with in close walking distance of the site.”
